6 California Road Trip Highlights

Don Graham, FlikrCalifornia is easily my favourite part of North America because its such a varied and unique landscape full of history. I loved the cities as much as the natural wonders here, and although I only visited for 3 weeks I definitely got around. Hiring a car is the best way to enjoy this state, but with numerous national parks, cities and experiences to take in, you have to plan the trip well to make sure it’s varied and you’re not spending too much time driving. Here are all of my favourite spots from my last road trip, ideal if you’re starting from San Francisco and don’t want to do too many long trips in the car. It’s not much, but it’s enough to get a taste and a glimpse of this surprising country. Each of the three main islands, Hong Kong, Kowloon and Lantau, have their own distinct character and charm. A day on each is plenty, it’s a small country after all.
